READY FOR ADVENT MISCHIEF? PUMUCKL RETURNS

Following the warmly received Pumuckl TV series, the little “kobold” has now hit the big screen! Pumuckl and the Great Misunderstanding jumped straight to the top of the German box office after its release in late October 2025. As the Deutsche Presse Agentur enthused: “The film offers not just a good hundred minutes of delightful entertainment… Pumuckl’s boundless zest for life reminds us to laugh, have fun and enjoy ourselves, even in the middle of everyday life – if only with a big bowl of chocolate ‘puddeling’.”

Here at Studio Soi we’ve also been busy working on the second season of the TV show which will be released just in time for the festive season and is available to stream from December 4th on RTL+. The perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit in true Bavarian style!

STAYING AWAKE

Just in time for the travel season in Germany,  our latest short film premieres this Sunday on Ki.Ka and das Erste, as part of Sendung mit der Maus:
It’s the middle of the night, pitch black outside, and Jaro, a young boy and his family are on a long car ride to the seaside. To pass the time, he makes a bet with his father to not fall asleep. Easy, right?
Wrong.
Because nothing tests your willpower quite like sheep grazing by the roadside who are practically begging to be counted. And that’s when things start to get… odd.
Suddenly, there’s a trucker belting out tunes in the passenger seat. Dad’s riding a sheep like a cowboy. The baby’s behind the wheel. -Steering the car up into the sky above Italy’s countryside.
Jaro starts to question what’s real, and whether the promised ice cream reward is really worth all the trouble.

ROBOTIER

Little Marvin from Trude’s neighbourhood has been saving forever for a remote-controlled car that transforms into a battle robot. But just as he’s about to buy it, a rich kid snatches the last RoboRacer right from under his nose! Outraged, Tier takes matters into its own paws—by becoming the RoboTier itself. But can it put on a performance good enough to convince the other kid?

The episode “Robotier” airs on March, 30th 2025 as part of “Sendung mit der Maus” on das Erste and Ki.Ka. You can also watch it online.

DRAGONS & ELEVATORS

This weekend, Tier is furious with Trude for sending him into the cave of a fearsome dragon. He’s very reluctant to forgive her, even though Trude explains that he simply dreamt about it, and it didn’t actually happen. Eventually, they decide that Tier’s dragon nightmares can only be stopped by confronting the source of his fears. So they set off on a daring adventure to the basement, where they hear growling and hissing from what must be the lair of a real dragon. Will they bravely open the door and confront what lurks in the dark?

In the second episode, the tables are turned as Trude confesses one of her own embarrassing weaknesses and finds that she too must face her own fear.

Two brand-new episodes of Trude’s Flatmate premiere on Sunday, 10th November, on KiKa at 17:30. You can also catch these episodes and last week’s episode, Hallo Suse, on the KiKa webpage.

LUCKY LEEK

Oh, the horror! Trude has to give an important presentation. On a Friday, the 13th! With all the bad luck that comes with a day like this, will she even make it to the presentation on time? How can Tier and his lucky charm – a special leek from the grocery store – help her to turn her bad luck around? Watch this episode on Sunday, Jul,y 14th 2024 on on “Sendung mit der Maus” on KIKA and ARD or on YouTube.

A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP

The time has come to present the second clip that we made for Sendung mit der Maus. This time, Maus has to come up with a solution to get his well deserved sleep, even if the sun would like to start the day already.  The spot will air on Sunday, March 10th, 2024 at 9:30am. By then, hopefully most of us should manage to be awake to watch it.

MAUS

We’ve produced various projects for Germany’s most popular children’s program, Sendung mit der Maus and finally, in 2023, we had the chance to contribute two one-minute-clips featuring the show’s main character: The Maus! The short interstitials with the iconic character and his elephant friend have been the trademark of the show for 50 years. Our first Maus-Spot is airing on Sunday, February 4th 2024.

THE ANIMALS’ CONSTITUTION

75 years ago, the German constitution was written in a very unusual location: a museum filled with stuffed animals. The satirical late night show ZDF Magazin Royale tells the story of how these animals actually played an essential part in setting up the law for post-war Germany. Studio Soi’s Johannes Weiland, co-directed the film with ZDF Magazin Royale’s Risto Saar. Together with a small team of artists, Johannes created the storyboards, animatics, backgrounds, animation and the compositing for the 30 minute piece. Audiences will have their chance to watch the film Friday, 19th of January 2024 on ZDF. The streaming service ZDF Mediathek will also stream the film from 8pm on the same day.
