Exciting news for fans of Pumuckl, the little trouble-maker who has been so popular with German-speaking audiences for decades. So far, only festival-goers have had a chance to see him running riot in a fresh relaunch. However, this Autumn, he is unleashed on a wider audience as the new series comes to the big screen! Three anarchic episodes will be released in German cinemas from October 26th. Produced by Neue Super and animated by studio soi, the new Pumuckl is set for a release of all 13 episodes on RTL+ later this year. For a sneak peek of Pumuckl in action, head over to the teaser on youtube.

Recently we’ve had the pleasure of working with Pumuckl, the childhood hero of Soi veterans, Micha and Mathias, as well as many other German kids who loved watching him back in the 80s. We were the lucky studio chosen to animate our hero and integrate him into the live action scenes in compositing. With a team of 30 artists, we worked on all 13 episodes of the newly rebooted show. Three episodes will be shown to an audience for the first time at the Filmfest München. Tickets are already sold out for the screening, but you’ll be able to watch all the episodes on streaming service RTL+ this autumn. We’ll give you a shout about the release date on our blog and social media nearer the time!
Germany’s biggest Animation Festival is just around the corner. The ITFS is taking place in Stuttgart this month, and we’ll be there to meet film-makers from all over the world. If you come along, you will be able to watch two of our films! An episode of “Trude’s Flatmate” will be part of the ‘Tricks for Kids 1’ program. Why not drop by on Wednesday 26th April at 3pm, and see how the duo befriend a pig? If you’re in the mood for an open-air experience afterwards, join us at 5pm on the same day for a screening of our TV special, “The Gruffalo” at the beautiful Schlossplatz. We hope to see you there!
We are a group of peculiar people here at studio soi. We often cannot resist making fun of our quirks. But how far can a joke go? So we made a film about that. In the second episode of Boots and Paws skunk Franka and zookeeper Boots learn a thing or two about joking when raggy penguin Amundsen accidently shows his naked bum. The episode “Not Funny” will air this Sunday on German TV. Watch it within ”Sendung mit der Maus”. More information and a trailer can be found on our website.
Trude lives together with a big obscure beast, which has the power of an elephant, the brashness of a child, but not a clue what’s good manners… ‘Trudes Tier’ (Trude’s Flatmate), directed by Klaus Morschheuser, Johannes Weiland and Michael Bohnenstingl and designed by Sandra Brandstätter and Sebastian Koch, is our latest tv-series project for the children’s tv show ‘Die Sendung mit der Maus’. The episodes will have their tv premiere on Das Erste / KIKA on 27th of April, 4th of May and 11th of May at 11:30 am.
