Studio Soi’s Director Johannes Weiland has won three major awards at the 2004 edition of IMAGINA. “Annie and Boo” not only picked up the Grand Prix Imagina, but also the Art Direction Award and the Prize for Schools and Universities. Congrats, Jolle!
Continuing last years celebrated festival screenings including LEAF (Award for best student work) and Annecy (Prix du jury “Canal J”) his beautiful short movie “Wunderwerk” has now won the Animex Festival (Award for best 2D Computer Animation).

Studio Soi has started production on the animated effects-sequences for “Marathon-von 0 auf 42”. The 3-part documentary produced by German broadcasters SWR and NDR, follows 7 (rather unlikely) contestants for the New York Marathon on their one-year run from o to 42.
Studio Soi has started production on “TORVALD”, a 7min. Christmas-special about the smallest lumberjack in town, his wife, and the biggest Christmas tree on earth. Commissioned by German broadcaster ZDF, scripted by Marcus Sauermann, and co-directed by Michael Sieber and Jakob Schuh, the (classically animated) tale of love and height will be aired Christmas 2004.
We’re very pleased to announce the signing of Studio Soi by acclaimed Paris-based productionhouse SPARX* (http://www.sparx.com/index.html) , who is now representing us for commercials in France. As one of the most ambitious CG-studios in Europe, SPARX* has often been an inspiration to us and we’re looking forward to future cooperations.
Production has started on “Piratengeschichten”! The 13-part stopmotion TV-series is a coproduction between Studio Soi and Halle-based animationhouse.
The project was supported by the funding of the MFG (Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg) as well as the MdM (Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung) and will be aired by German broadcaster “Kinderkanal” end of 2004.
