We’re delighted to hear that two of of our latest productions have taken home three awards at this year’s “Cartoons on the Bay:
“The Little Boy and the Beast” has been awarded as the “Best Educational and Issues Film”. “The Gruffalo” has won both the “Arleccchino Award” (assigned in cooperation with the Bologna Bookfair to commend the best animated adaptation of a book) as well as the award for the “Best European Production”.
This month “The Little Boy and The Beast” go to Portugal, Germany and Spain. You can watch our short at the IndieLisboa Festival in Lisbon (22.04 – 02.05.2010) and at the “Goldener Spatz” in Erfurt & Gera (25.04. – 30.04.2010) as well as at the Festival Animabisauri in Bilbao (23.04 – 30.04.2010).

You can watch our short “The Little Boy and The Beast” again this Easter Sunday (April, 4th) at 3:55 pm on German Broadcaster KIKA. The film was directed by Uwe Heidschötter and Johannes Weiland.
Soi contributed another 2D short to ZDF´s Children TV Series “Löwenzahn”. The episode “evolution of life” is broadcast on March 28th at 08:35 am on ZDF and at 4:00 pm on KIKA.
Two of Soi’s films made it into the TV Special category at the Animation Festival in Annecy this year. Come and watch “Der Kleine und das Biest” as well as “The Gruffalo” there, the directors and many of our team will do the same. We are very much looking forward to seeing you all there.

This Sunday, March 21st, our short “The Stork” will be shown on childrens’ channel KIKA – at 8.35 am.
Our short “The Little Boy and The Beast” is selected for the Kids and Youth Competition at this year’s “International Short Film Festival Oberhausen”.
The DVD of Studio Soi’s “The Gruffalo” will be available from March 22nd. Included are a.o. an in-depth “Making Of” and a gallery of the stunning artwork Manu Arenas created for the film.

To celebrate the DVD release of “The Gruffalo” on March 22nd, the short will be shown at the Barbican Center, London. Also included in the programme will be studio aka’s brilliant “Lost and Found”.
“The Gruffalo” has been accepted into this year’s Palm Springs Short Film Festival. We wish we could join him there.
